TE Tyco relay structure
Our product structure consists of:
Silver contacts:
Using high-quality composite silver contacts, according to customer needs, can be customized for resistive load, inductive load, or capacitive load contact material.
High quality circle:
It has good performance in melting resistance, mechanical properties and heat resistance, softening breakdown, etc., and high pressure resistance.
Safe to use:
Annual cumulative sales of 150 million relays, 10 million product configuration, more customers choose.
Excellent quality:
The products have passed ISO90001 certification and are facing international customers and export standards. The products have successfully passed CQC, UL, TUV and SGS certifications.
A relay is judged on three things that pull against each other: contact resistance, arc erosion resistance, and the force needed to move the contact. Low resistance wants a soft, high-purity contact material; arc erosion resistance wants a hard, high-melting-point one. The construction choices below are how that conflict is resolved in practice.
Relay construction and the parameter it controls
| Structural element | Material / construction | What it decides |
| Contact | Composite silver, matched to load type | Contact resistance and erosion life |
| Contact rivet / weld | Resistance-welded or staked | Mechanical retention under shock |
| Moving armature | Soft iron pole piece | Pull-in and drop-out force |
| Coil former | Insulated bobbin | Dielectric strength and thermal path |
| Terminal | Solder or PCB pin | Current path and heat sinking |
| Seal (sealed types) | Epoxy or welded can | Atmosphere control, contact film growth |
The same relay frame can be built with different contact materials, and the correct one depends on what the load looks like at the moment of switching. A resistive load interrupts at a predictable arc energy. An inductive load stores energy in its field and releases it across the opening contact, which erodes the contact far faster. A capacitive load produces a high inrush current at make rather than at break, which is a welding risk rather than an erosion risk. Specifying the load type at order time is what lets the manufacturer select the contact material, which is why a relay ordered by part number alone may not be the right device for the circuit.
CQC and UL recognition cover the relay as a component: the contact rating at a stated voltage and load category, the dielectric strength between coil and contact, and the temperature rise at rated current. They do not cover the reliability of the end product. Where the relay is used in a safety function, the relevant requirement is a forced-guided contact construction and a B10d figure from the manufacturer, neither of which is implied by a general component certification.
