1. NOVAT type transformer circuit breaker overview

(1). Product background and scope of application

Novat transformer circuit breaker is a transformer protection device developed by Eaton Cooper Power Systems based on the strong technical advantages of Edison R&D Center. It uses computer simulation technology based on mature switchgear. Novat transformer circuit breakers have the advantages of strong current carrying capacity, high overload shunt closing ability, and fast response speed. They can replace traditional fuses in transformers to achieve overcurrent and overcurrent protection of transformers. Novat transformer circuit breakers function as load break switches, current limiting fuses and Bay-O-Net fuses.


NOVAT transformer circuit breakers adopt a modular structure, combined with vacuum arc extinguishing technology and optimized design, to achieve the goals of miniaturization and lightweight. It has a series of advantages such as simple structure, high reliability, small size, low price, high power supply quality, and safe power supply. Arrangements can be flexibly adjusted according to customer needs.


 

2.Product Features

(1)  High  reliability:  the  adoption  of  mature   and   reliable   spring-operated mechanism with high degree of standardization ensures stable and reliable operation of the mechanism; The  switch  structure has been  optimized and designed  so that its mechanical performance and the length of its working life far exceed the national standard.

(2)  Small  volume:  the  circuit  breaker  switching  device  is  integrated  in  the transformer case, and the operation and control device is arranged on the outside of the case, which has the advantages of simple structure, convenient maintenance and small volume.

(3) High environmental protection: the internal materials are mainly molded with thermoplastic materials, which can be recycled and do not cause waste pollution to the environment.

(4) Low cost: Nearly 90% of the parts are processed by open molding, so the consistency and stability of the products are greatly improved, and the cost has a greater advantage than traditional products.

(5)  Flexible  configuration:  operation  and  control  devices  can  be  configured according to customer needs.


 

2. NOVAT type transformer circuit breaker structure

1.Product Principle:

NOVAT type transformer circuit breaker works as follows: Current transformer (CT) collects the current signal on the incoming cable, converts the large current into a small current signal, and provides it to the Microprocessor-based protection device (PBD). When the current value collected by CT is greater than the trip current value set by PBD (overcurrent in main circuit), PBD sends out a trip signal to make the Vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) carry out tripping action to cutoff the main circuit, realizing the overcurrent protection of  the transformer.

1. Electric operation (operation on the secondary cabinet)

a).  Circuit  breaker  energy  storage  (It  will  automatically  store  energy  when electrically operated);

b). When the circuit breaker breaking signal light is on, the closing button can be pressed to close the circuit breaker;

c). When the circuit breaker closing signal light is on, the breaking button can be pressed to make the circuit breaker break.


2. Manual operation (operation on the mechanism bin)

a). Open the circuit breaker energy storage operation hole latch plate by pushing it clockwise. Insert the handle into the operation hole and turn it clockwise to store energy in the circuit breaker (it will store energy automatically when electric);

b). When the circuit breaker is open, open the closing button cover and press the circuit breaker closing button to close the circuit breaker;

c). When the circuit breaker is closed, open the breaking button cover and press the breaker closing button to close the circuit breaker
